[one_half]A few months ago me and my better half decided to have a long weekend away in Keswick, Cumbria. For me, the Lake District has some of the best views around, I used to spend a lot of my time there when I was younger, but unfortunately never had a good enough camera to really capture the views.[/one_half]

[one_half_last]One of my new years resolutions was to get out into the countryside more, so we hoped for good weather, and we got it, sort off, the last day was glorious, its just a shame we were leaving. Since I hadn’t had my camera for very long I was still very much learning how to even work the thing, so when I came home, like many other photographers I wasn’t overly pleased with my photos, but with the magic of post processing I made the best I could of what I got.[/one_half_last]

Mary Mount Hotel, Keswick, the Lake District - Calum Lewis

This was where we stayed, the Mary Mount Hotel, definitely  recommend, the views from pretty much every angle is ridiculously good. The room was great and we had a nice lake view from 2 different sides which was nice to wake up to, as well as being about 10 minutes drive from Keswick.

A walk up the Catbells was nice, tiring but some great views from the top.

We went about 5 months after the major floods hit Keswick and Cumbria in general, it was actually really surprising how much was destroyed, even from seeing everything on the news and TV it was pretty shocking to see bridges completely destroyed and a park completely covered in silt and general rubbish brought up by the water.

Sadly due to the damage from the floods the pencil museum was closed which was a major bummer after we looked forward to it all day

When the last day came it was the nicest day of the whole weekend which is quite typical, we stayed around to take some more pictures around Derwent water while the weather was nice before heading home.
